6th Grade String Orchestra is open to all students at Cherry Ave. Middle School. Emphasis on basic music concepts and techniques are taught for students to learn a string instrument. Reading music, proper sound production, and concert etiquette are stressed and students are expected to perform at all local concerts.

7/8 Orchestra at Cherry Ave is open to all 7th and 8th grade students with at least 1 year of instrumental experience. Reading music, proper sound production, musical expression and concert etiquette are stressed and students are expected to perform at all local concerts as well as local festivals. 7/8 Orchestra members are encouraged to audition for honors programs and ensembles throughout Tulare/Kings Counties.

7th & 8th Grade Strings


Mr. Ray.


Mr. Ray is the current Director of Bands here at Cherry Ave. Middle School. Before teaching at Cherry Mr. Ray was the Director of Bands and VAPA Department Head at Mt. Whitney High School from 2007-2015. Mr. Ray earned his B.A. in Music from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and a Masters in Music in Instrumental Conducting through the American Band College of Sam Houston State University.


6th Grade Strings


Mr. Daniels


Mr. Daniels is the Assistant Band Director for the Jr. High programs as well as the Co-Director for the 6th grade programs at Cherry Ave. In addition to Cherry Ave. Mr. Daniels is also the head director at Garden Elementary.
